Pablum
Pablum was a baby cereal that was formulated by Johnson & Johnson back in the 1930’s. It was formulated in an attempt to combat malnutrition in infants.
Easy to digest oatmeal that was bland, mushy, unappetizing, and infantile.
It is still used today, but rather in a different form: The atrocious type of content that you and most of the world consumes.
And you did it to yourselves. Scrolling all day, no matter what medium you’re on, it’s all algorithms pushing you slop day after day.
Only to argue that out of the hundreds of pieces of short-form content you consumed today, you found that one recipe video that inspired you to cook.
Sorry to tell you, you’re cooking slop, didn’t you read what I told you the algorithms were pushing?
No, but you’re different, you watch TV shows that mega corporations poured billions of dollars into so it can’t be slop. Newsflash, they’re giving the people what they wan’t. And what do the people want? Well, they’ve been trained to enjoy slop.
Just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean the quality is high. An elementary axiom.
It is very rare to be able to find any form of content that is worth consuming.
Mr. Beast and others alike who operate under the same principles where the ultimate goal is views over everything might as well be considered AI. Because at this point they’re not even making their own decisions.
It’s a never-ending flywheel that is pumping out garbage at lightning speed, and you are all falling for it.
Even if you think that the content you consume is good, chances are it’s not.
The reason for this is because this type of content is everywhere now, it’s clockwork orange all over again where no matter where you look, you are forced to consume some type of slop via a random video on youtube that catches your attention or even a friend telling you about a clip they saw recently.
Gen Z and even younger millennials can only communicate properly if you mention the latest trends happening on tiktok, instagram, youtube, twitter, etc.
If I see a podcast that has a guest on talking about a somewhat dramatic subject, the first thing I think is how dumb do these creators think I must be to click on this garbage.
Have some self-respect and awareness to the fact that your attention is being farmed for views by your “favorite creators”.
Here’s a test you can do. Are ya smarter than you were 5 years ago?
And no, having knowledge doesn’t make you smarter anymore. You and I both have the world’s knowledge in our pockets.
Theres talented individuals out there writing, creating films, posting streams, that are not on the big 4 overlords for good reason.
Quality is rare in today’s times.
Don’t eat the Pablum.
P.S. Something you can do to train whatever is left of your brain for the AI apocalypse is to assume EVERYTHING you see on a screen is fake.
Guilty until proven innocent for these anti-humans.
